Health centre refurb complete

News & Updates Health centre refurb complete! Black Cat was instructed by Medway Council and NewRiver REIT to act as Project Managers and Cost Consultants to deliver a 40,000 ft² Healthy Living Centre for the NHS to take occupation. This project has been undertaken in the existing shopping centre in Chatham, involving multiple public‑sector stakeholders, a complex commercial structure, and fixed NHS operational deadlines. We provided clear project leadership, governance and cost control, acting as the single point of coordination across the Council, Developer, NHS and Design Team. Risk, cost and change were controlled by a robust delivery framework, which enabled fast, confident decision-making on a live, high-profile regeneration scheme. The project was highly complex, aligned around a clear delivery strategy, with stakeholders fully engaged and risks tightly managed. The scheme was positioned for successful delivery, transforming under‑used retail space into a sustainable community health asset while supporting wider town‑centre regeneration. Rooftop drinks in Manchester? You bet!

News & Updates Rooftop drinks in Manchester? You bet! ☀️???? ????‍⬛ This time last week we got the Manchester Black Cat Building Consultancy team together for a few post-work beverages in the glorious sunshine. Mainly to celebrate the fact it was a Thursday… When we moved into our brilliant new space in St James Square back in December, the roof terrace may have felt slightly optimistic to some people. But after last week, it’s safe to say it’s already proving its worth. Blue skies, excellent views across the Manchester skyline and a great evening with the team. Not a bad way to round off the month of April! We’re already looking forward to doing it again over the summer with some of our brilliant clients, contacts and friends. Inspiring the next generation of surveyors

News & Updates Inspiring the next germination of surveyors It was great to see the fresh-faced side of the team representing Black Cat at a Built Environment Careers Event in Burnley this week, with Design Technician James Green (centre), Ratings Surveyor Samuel Scarborough (right) and Graduate Surveyor Bradley McNally (left) all on hand to inspire the next generation. Speaking directly with over 40 Year 9 pupils, the team shared insight into the wide range of opportunities within building consultancy, from technical and surveying roles through to project delivery and specialist pathways. Sam said: “One of the most positive takeaways was seeing how engaged many of the students were, asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in careers they may not have previously considered.” Having colleagues at different stages of their careers helped bring those pathways to life, showing there is more than one route into the profession. The team also discussed future work experience opportunities, with interest already shown for Year 10 placements next year. Thanks to Burnley College and Jo Norwood of Burnley Borough Council for organising such a brilliant event – a fantastic example of supporting future talent and giving young people a clearer view of the opportunities available in our industry. Parri Thomas joins Team Black Cat
Team News

Parri Thomas joins Team Black Cat!

News & Updates Parri Thomas joins the colouring-in team! Parri Thomas joins the Black Cat Marketing Team (AKA:  Colouring-In Team) as a Digital Content Creator, bringing decades of experience in all things visual media. After graduating with a degree in Digital and Lens Media (ie. photography and film making) he found himself working at Hamerville Media Group, a magazine publisher and events organiser focusing primarily on the built environment, providing all their in-house photography and video needs: ranging from shooting more trade shows than he can remember, to ice climbing, pot holing and driving a van to Hanover on a single tank of diesel all in the name of creating varied and interesting content. Along side this, Parri was using his cameras to forge a career in the world of music and entertainment and, after being made redundant in 2016, went full time self employed. The following ten years saw him travel the world to shoot festivals, magazine editorials, and album artwork for the great and the good of the music world. He’s been published everywhere from shooting covers for the likes of The NME and The Big Issue to countless press clippings in most major newspapers. Post-pandemic Parri briefly hung up the cameras to follow a dream of running a bakery and started a doughnut business with a friend, which is still going strong. If you happen to be in Margate, or an Arsenal fan at the Emirates, be sure to buy a Bombo Doughnut. He promises they’ll change your life. After a couple of years of getting Bombo Doughnuts off the ground, Parri put down the apron and picked up his cameras again, and has now joined Black Cat Building Consultancy to bring his years of experience and trained eye creating varied and interesting visual content to Black Cat. ???? Parri says: “It’s always hard to tempt someone back from the world of self-employment but Black Cat Building Consultancy’s fully transparent business approach along with a ‘people-first’ ethos was too appealing to ignore. And the sheer variety of work I’ll be shooting is staggering. From architectural photography to cinematic drone videos to portraiture, I can’t see myself getting bored any time soon!” Outside of work, Parri lives in Margate with his partner and their rescue dog Terry. When not trying to wrestle fish out of the dog’s mouth on the beach, Parri enjoys eating out, having opinions about coffee, mountain biking, flying (and crashing and repairing) FPV drones and being lightly addicted to chess (even though he’s still not very good at it). Welcome to Black Cat, Antony Green!
Team News

Welcome to Black Cat, Antony Green!

News & Updates Welcome to Black Cat, Antony Green! Antony joins us as an M&E Engineer, bringing a strong blend of hands-on delivery experience and real estate advisory expertise. He started his career with a family-owned building services contractor in Cambridge, learning the trade from the ground up, including time on the tools. That early experience shaped his practical understanding of M&E, which he later built on by qualifying as a Quantity Surveyor and spending several years in M&E contracting. A standout moment during this time was being part of the FM delivery team for the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games at the Velodrome. More recently, Antony spent eight years with CBRE across London and Dublin, moving into building consultancy just before the pandemic. He now specialises in real estate advisory, with a focus on technical due diligence and dilapidations. His contracting background gives him a practical, delivery-led approach, helping clients find clear, workable solutions. Antony says: “Black Cat’s straightforward, non-corporate approach was a key draw. Having been based in Ireland for the past three years, I’m excited to be supporting Sean Doherty and Eamonn Cregan in continuing to grow the business locally.” He also brings a strong focus on ESG, supporting clients to improve energy performance and future-proof their assets. Outside of work, life currently revolves around his young son and his cockapoo, Arlo. He enjoys travelling, spending time across Ireland, particularly the West Coast and the Wild Atlantic Way, and is a keen football fan and long-suffering Gillingham FC supporter. Great to have you onboard Anthony!
